Patient Financing

If you do not have dental insurance, there are other options for financing your dental treatment at H-Town Dental. We are happy to set up a payment plan for you using your credit card, give you advice about health spending accounts, and provide information about applying for a CareCredit account.

At H-Town Dental we can set up a payment plan for you using Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express, as well as Certified Checks.

How Does CareCredit Work?

CareCredit is like a credit card for your health care costs. Qualified patients without dental insurance can spread their payments out over a period of time, rather than paying the entire cost of their visits upfront.

CareCredit was created to help patients get certain procedures done, such as large restorative treatment or cosmetic dentistry. There is no initial fee to begin using CareCredit. The first payment will be due four to six weeks after the procedure, and you can pay ahead of time. To apply call 1-800-859-9975 or call our office at 281-506-8945 if you have more questions.

Health Spending Accounts

A Health Spending Accounts (HSA) is not insurance, but many employers provide this option to their employees. With these accounts, you are able to put pretax dollars in. Depending on your income level, this could save you money. You can then use the money for medical expenses.

One downside to an HSA account is that additional documentation may be required to prove that the money was spent on medical or dental expenses. And unused money left in the HSA account is lost after a specific amount of time. Call your HR department or provider for more information.

Helpful Hints to Get the Most Out of Your Insurance

Dental insurance is designed to help the insurance company to save money. For you to get the most out of your insurance the key is to prevent any problems before they happen.

Preventative Care. Preventative care is the most important factor to get the most out of your insurance. Insurance companies pay for 100% of your preventive care to save them money in the long run, which means that you will not have to pay anything out of pocket. Preventive care includes procedures such as exams, cleanings, x-rays, and fluoride treatments.

Deductibles. Usually, a $50 to $100 deductible will need to be paid when you first require treatment in a coverage year. This fee is separate from your co-pay and is only paid once a year. You can help pay fewer deductibles by getting all your family’s dental work done within one calendar year. This is important for any restorative work you may need such as crowns or fillings.

Choosing a Dentist In-Network. When a dentist is in-network with an insurance provider, they have agreed to a lower fee schedule for their services. This is an effective way for dental providers to attract new patients. However, the catch is that employers decide which insurance companies they use for your insurance coverage. If you are unsure about your coverage or have issues speak with your employer and switch companies if they allow it to get the best coverage you need.

Read the Fine Print. Many dental insurance plans may not be fully utilized when you first sign up for them. There are various times when the plan may start which may affect your preventative care options. Make sure you check the waiting periods of the plan. Also, learn all that you can about your plan.
